SCAF celebrated the 20th annual Philanthropist of the Year Awards on Friday, March 20.

The Heritage Bank Organization Making a Difference Award was presented to:
Swift Electric.
Over the years, Swift Electric has quietly and consistently supported organizations such as the Stanwood Camano Food Bank, the Community Resource Center, the Veterans Resource Center, the Safe Harbor Free Clinic, Stilly Valley Youth Dynamics, Arrowhead Ranch, and the Camano Island Schoolhouse Foundation—while also providing discounted or donated services to neighbors in need. For this family-owned company, giving back isn’t just good business—it’s personal. Having experienced times when community support made a real difference in their own lives, they’ve made generosity a cornerstone of their work and their legacy.
The Hometown Hero Award was presented to:
Taryn Daly.
Inspired by her mother’s journey with MS, Taryn has raised more than $125,000 for the National MS Society, serving as a team captain for Bike MS and Walk MS, securing major media sponsorships, and serving on the Board of Trustees for the Greater Northwest Chapter. She has emceed major fundraising events, organized community cribbage tournaments, and amplified countless nonprofit efforts across the region through her work on the KISW Daly Migs morning show.
Through partnerships with the Washington State Council of Firefighters for Coats for Kids, Mary's Place for Kicks for Kids, support of SMASH, and participation in Making Strides with the American Cancer Society, her impact reaches thousands of families each year.
The Floyd & Delores Jones Spirit of Philanthropy Award was presented to:
Ted McCammant.
Over the years, Ted has dedicated countless hours to supporting local youth — volunteering as a coach for his daughters’ sports teams, mentoring young athletes, and modeling what it means to lead with integrity, humility, and generosity.
His commitment to education is equally evident. Through service on multiple committees for the Stanwood-Camano School District, he has worked thoughtfully and tirelessly to strengthen opportunities for students and support the success of our schools.
His leadership has extended across several nonprofit boards, but he found a special home at the Stanwood-Camano YMCA, where the mission aligns so closely with his own values. As Board Chair, he has helped guide our local Y with steady vision and heart. His impact now reaches even further through his recent appointment to the Trustee Board of the YMCA of Snohomish County.
The Barbara Christoferson Pay It Forward Award was presented to:
Lynda Buehring.
Lynda's life has been guided by a deep commitment to service. As a retired Supervisory Special Agent with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and an Air Force Reserve veteran, she dedicated more than 30 years to protecting the vulnerable, including leading efforts to combat human trafficking. She carried that mission into our community as Director of the Anti-Human Trafficking Initiative at Hope Unlimited, bringing awareness, education, and prevention efforts to protect children and families.
Her philanthropic impact reaches far beyond one role. She has served in leadership and volunteer capacities with the Stanwood-Camano YMCA, the American Association of University Women, PEO, veterans ministries, local law enforcement support efforts, and numerous civic and community organizations — always stepping forward wherever there is a need. Whether mentoring, coordinating outreach, supporting education, or strengthening community safety, she embodies the true spirit of paying it forward.
Breakfast was served by students from Lincoln Hill High School.
Attendees heard stories of impact from program recipients:
